Prescriptions

We Cannot Accept Any Prescription Requests Over The Phone.

We ask that all prescription requests are made out in writing for safety reasons, we cannot take any requests over the phone.

There are a number of different ways that you can request a repeat prescription:

- You can request repeat prescriptions online, however you will need to register to access this service. You can do this by completing an application form at the surgery. Details of how to register online will be sent to you.

Please note when a prescription has been 'Accepted' it means that we have it in our in tray but it may not be ready for collection.

- You can fill out your repeat prescription slip or alternatively complete one of our forms located at one of our Reception areas.

- You can send us in a letter. Please note if you select this option you must provide us with your; name, date of birth and address and allow enough time for us to receive the letter before your medication runs out.

- You can also ring your usual pharmacy and ask them to put in the request for you. Please note that if you select this option you may have to select them as your nominated pharmacy (see below for more details).

We urge patients to request their repeat medication in good time, so that you do not run out of medication while your repeat prescription request is being processed.

48 hours ( two working days) is required before your prescription will be ready to collect. E.G. if you request a prescription on a Friday it will not be ready until Tuesday. Please note this may vary due to bank holidays.

If you are unable to collect your medication, your nominated pharmacy can deliver medication for you, however, you must request this with them.


Nominated Pharmacy

What is a nominated Pharmacy?

If you have a local or regular pharmacy that you use, we can send your prescriptions straight to them electronically so that they can dispense your medication for you. All you have to do is inform us of your preferred pharmacy and then we will send your next prescriptions straight to your chosen pharmacy. After 48 hours you can then go straight to your chosen pharmacy and collect your medication from them.

If you would like to have your medication delivered to you, you will need to arrange this with your chosen nominated pharmacy.

We have been advised of the following:

The NHS accepts responsibility for supplying ongoing medication for temporary periods abroad for up to 3 months.  If a patient is going to be abroad for more than 3 months then all the patient is entitled to at NHS expense is a sufficient supply of his/her regular medication to get to the destination and find an alterntaive supply of that medication.
